A plane full of Jews scheduled to leave Orlando for JFK at 10:45 AM on Sunday, instead departed at 11 PM.
The flight was postponed by one hour increments due to a “mechanical problem”.
By the time the plane was flight-worthy, the crew announced that they had maximized the hours they were permitted to work, and the FAA requires them to find new pilots and crew.
Hours later they managed to grab a crew, and the passengers boarded. The plane sat on the tarmac for 2.5 hours. At that time the new crew announced that they too had “timed out,” and yet a new crew was needed.
The passengers had to deplane again and wait for another 5 hours.
Someone present called Chabad of South Orlando and the Shluchim Rabbi Yosef and Chani Konikov, together with their son, got to work.
They prepared food for everyone and then purchased plane tickets on a departing flight so they can enter the terminal, passed security, with all the food.
Then, in front of the gate, they set up the food and served the weary travelers with smiles and love. “Everyone present was amazed and grateful for their Ahavas Yisroel and help,” one person told COLlive.com.

Every Shliach is special but there is definitely something about R’ Konikov
I remember when he helped me before we went out on Shlichus…an open heart

The same thing happened to us a few years ago except we had to land in an airport in NC, then told they timed out… keep this in mind so you can be proactive in a similar situation.
I immediately looked for other Frum travelers and rented a large suv and we just drove straight thru to NY.
This is not a rare occurrence with Jetblue. In the past year, I have flown a number of times with them and they are almost always delayed, sometimes for an entire day.
Its incredible to see what our Shluchim do. You don’t even realize how far of an impact this will have on these peoples lives. Besides the fact that they will give over good reports to their friends and family, its also the simple fact of helping out another Jew which is what the Rebbe wanted. May we see only more of this!
Yosef Konikov was always the man!!!
Leave it to the AIBESHTER to show the world (with publicity from COLLIVE) how . each of us can in our own unique way, transcend and transform a situation to make THIS corner of the world Comfortable for Hashem to say , “thank you!! Why do you think I sent you there in the first place ! !
Ladies and gentleman, I have had 3 occasions of being trapped and stranded with a Jet Blue flight for 14 hours. Many people with me yesterday said they’ve had similar experiences, even just in the last week. I read forums where people report the same thing. And the response by the Jet Blue employees is nastiness and aloofness. There was not a single word of empathy from the crew, desk employees, or managers yesterday. The passengers were calm and corroborative throughout, and the Jet Blues employees were obstinate and rude. This has been my experience on every Jet Blue flight… Read more »

Mi kiamcha Yisroel. Chabad shluchim are ready to assist people 24/7, as are others.
Amazing what Rabbi Kanikov did!
People, always make sure to have extra food when flying. You never know what kinds of delays and cancellations you may face. There may not always be a Rabbi Kanikov to bail you out. You may be stuck on the tarmac for hours or diverted to a dinky town airport where there is no Shliach for miles. Come prepared when flying. This common sense was instilled in me by my parents and I’m always shocked to hear when people don’t pack just in case sandwiches when traveling.
I used to commute between Europe and the US. At some airports I was singled out for an agriculture inspection despite travelling with no luggage. It was apparent that there was an assumption of “Jews bring food.”.
How did he get in and get to the Gate? With all of his product?
“and then purchased plane tickets on a departing flight so they can enter the terminal, passed security, with all the food”
They bought tickets. Generals in Hashem and our Rebbes army.
I’ve got such nachas reading this story
I lived in Orlando from 1990 to 1994 and can figure out whose brother(?) this might be. Thank you Chabad of Orlando (and Maitland)
