After a recent Evening of Soul, Song, and Story with Rabbi Ruvi New at Chabad of Markam Ontario, Rabbi Avraham E Plotkin shared his impression of the program:
“Tremendous feedback from the hundreds who attended. Through a journey of song and thought, Rabbi New was successful in imparting some of the most profound inner concepts about the Rebbe and Chassidus, usually reserved for a Chassidisher Farbrengen, to a diverse Chabad House crowd.
“His ability to bridge these two worlds and make it look so easy was genius. His audio-visual presentation and creative lyrics made the evening both pleasurable and inspirational.”
For Gimmel Tammuz this year, Rabbi New, spiritual leader of Chabad of East Boca in Florida and a popular lecturer on Kabbalah, was in high demand traveling to the Chabad communities of Panama, Bratislava, and Budapest during the week of Gimmel Tammuz.
After a community concert in Panama City on Thursday Night, 26 Sivan, arranged by Shliach Rabbi Mendel Karniel, Rabbi New Farbrenged with the Bochurim Shluchim of Kolel Torah Panamá, arranged by Rosh Hakollel, Rabbi Menachem M. Shuchat. On Friday morning, Rabbi New spoke for a N’shei Chabad Brunch hosted by Nechama Shuchat.
On Shabbos, Rabbi New Farbrengened with the growing Lubavitcher community of Panama in honor of Chof Ches Sivan and as a Hachana for Gimmel Tammuz.
Head Shliach to Panama, Rabbi Ari Laine, described the Thursday evening community concert as “fabulous.” “The lyrics and music were right on target. It was very creative to be able to give over the Rebbe’s message in such a unique way. The people really enjoyed it and were greatly uplifted by the experience”.
Rabbi Shuchat added: “Rabbi New joined us for Shabbos before Gimmel Tammuz, his unique capability to engage with all sorts of crowds was extraordinary (Religious and not yet.., men and women, bochurim and balebatim). All were engaged. Some through song, others through a deep Chassidus Shiur or a meaningful Farbrengen. A perfect blend of depth, joy, meaning and inspiration.”
From Panama to Bratislava, Slovakia, where Rabbi Baruch and Chanie Meyers were celebrating the 30th anniversary of their Shlichus to the country in Central Europe.
In the words of Rabbi Myers, Rabbi of the Jewish Community of Bratislava, Slovakia and executive director of Chabad of Slovakia:
“On Tuesday evening, Rosh Chodesh Tammuz 5783 (June 20th, 2023), we marked the special day of Gimmel Tammuz while also marking the 30th anniversary of my inauguration as Rabbi of the Jewish Community and 30 years since my wife Chanie and I arrived on Shlichus in the Slovak Republic’s capital city of Bratislava. The event we arranged was Rabbi Ruvi New’s Storm the World Project.
“In the planning stages, I shared my question with Ruvi as to whether Gimmel Tammuz and our Shlichus anniversary should be combined, and Ruvi insisted that the activities of a Shliach are the most eloquent expression of the Rebbe’s impact. The event was educating and inspiring to all.
“Everything you would want to be spoken about at Farbrengen devoted to the Rebbe was there: the Seventh Generation – “I have come to My Garden,” the Mitzvah campaigns, the preciousness of every single Jew, “Lechatchila Ariber”- all of these ideas were expressed through Rabbi New’s music and lyrics, accompanied by professional orchestrations and moving photography. I urge any Shliach who is able to present this event to do so.”
From Slovakia to Budapest, where Rabbi New performed and Farbrenged for a united Chabad Community evening at the beautiful Chabad House on the Danube led by Rabbi Mendy Glitzenstein.
Rabbi Isaac Stell, one of the Shluchim to Budapest and arrangers of the event, under the auspices of Rabbi Shlomo Koves, said: “Rabbi New’s performance made the Rebbe more tangible to our community. Great performance, moving music, important messages that touched the crowd deeply.”
Another of Budapest’s twelve Shluchim, Rabbi Tzemmi Bassman, shared: “Rabbi New was incredibly inspiring and captivating. Through his songs, he was able to draw the community in and teach deep concepts from the Rebbe in a very relatable and unique manner. Rabbi New continued the farbrengen in a more intimate setting, with Shluchim and Anash sharing Zichronos from his years in 770 and on Shlichus. With words of chizuk and hisoirirus, he inspired the oilam long into the night.”
In recapping the tour Rabbi New shared: “It’s incredibly inspiring to see the work and impact of my fellow Shluchim in other parts of the world, in communities large and small. It’s equally inspiring to witness the level of interest people have to learn more about the Rebbe and the desire to connect in a real and deep way. It’s truly humbling to have some small part in facilitating that.”

Rabbi New is a superstar. Is it any wonder with such incredible parents. His late mother and his father may be live and be well.
Keep in making the family proud
Looks amazing!
Rabbi Ruvi New came to our local Chabad house some years ago and inspired us with his heartfelt melodies. May he continue to inspire and help Yidden feel Hashem’s love and Hashgacha Protis. Rabbi Ruvi is quite the entertainer!
