Bring the Torah to your kitchen!
The holiday of Shavuos is popularly known for reading the Aseres Hadibros and enjoying a dairy meal. But at Chabad-Lubavitch of Orange County in Chester, New York, it is a meat dish that they look forward to.
For years now, Shluchim Rabbi Pesach and Chana Burston have been serving “Hot Torahs” at their Shavuos meals and during other holidays such as Simchas Torah.
It combines hotdogs and puff pastry to create “hot dogs in blankets” in the shape of a Torah scroll with its parchment and 2 wood shafts. Rabbi Burston said it is “a treat popular in our Chabad House.”
Now, Rabbi Burston with the help of his daughter Rivkah Burston present the easy, fun and delicious recipe for others to duplicate.
INGREDIENTS:
- Kosher hot dogs
- Puff pastry squares
- Egg
- Baking sheet lined with parchment paper
DIRECTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 375
- Defrost puff pastry sheets until flexible
- Fold 1 square on 2 hot dogs, folding up both ends
- Optional: Cut a square into strips to make shapes or letters
- Bake for about 15 minutes
