Participants of a Yud Tes Kislev Farbrengen in Coral Spring, Florida, co-hosted by local Shluchim in a beautiful expression of Achdus, were urged to learn.
The guest speaker, Rabbi Mendy Cohen, Director of Chabad in California’s Sacramento focused on learning Torah and chassidus and especially the Rebbe’s directive of learning Rambam daily.
He quoted what the Rebbe told Shluchim in 1983: “There are some who excuse themselves. They say ‘I am preoccupied spreading Judaism and running educational institutions… how can I possibly put it all aside and publish innovative Torah thoughts?’
“To this I respond: Not only will publishing innovative Torah thoughts not detract from your activities, to the contrary, the printing of Torah journals will aid the spread of Judaism. It will aid your financial state of affairs and pull you out of debt.”
Rabbi Cohen, who was a keynote speaker at the International Kinus Hashluchim last year, said he has witnessed many miracles in his Shlichus that were fulfilled thanks to simply learning.
In 2011, Cohen himself wrote Margalit Menachem, a 400-page book analyzing the differing views of the Rambam and the Ra’avad and published by Kehot Publication Society.
What an amazing, brilliant farbrengen!
