A young Chabad Shliach was appointed chaplain of one of the oldest the highest ranking public university in Australia.
Rabbi Chaim Herzog was given the religious role at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) city campus in Melbourne.
He told the local press that his role was practically important for overseas students studying at the university.
He was inducted by Riad Galil, who works on the campus in the area of students services.
Herzog has been operating in the area since 1998 when he established Chabad of Melbourne CBD (Central Business District), which is located near RMIT University.
There are lots of Jewish People moving into the CBD and Southbank, he told COLlive.com. “There may be as many as 600 Jews currently living there.”
I ‘m an old collegiate of RMIT, I have frequented his Succah in the City and always attended his Purim Parties for the last seven years.
Two of my friends were referred by Rabbi Herzog to Rabbi Yankel Rapp who is the official Shliach on Campus and they were very happy by the way Rabbi Herzog and Rabbi Rapp looked after them.
