The Shidduch House joined women worldwide in an evening of unity for their second annual Challah Bake. As the attendees entered the Shidduch House, they were greeted by a beautifully set table with aprons and ingredients, all in preparation for a very inspirational night. The elegant refreshments and joyous music set the stage for a very memorable evening in celebration of the auspicious day of Tu B’Av. The attention to detail was evident creating an environment that was both inviting and conducive to the event planned. The program seamlessly integrated moments of reflection, tefilla and interaction, deepening the attendees’ connection to the Mitzvah of Challah and to one another.
Sheli Atara Man expertly guided the participants in making the dough, and as they joined together in mixing and kneading it, an air of camaraderie and shared purpose enveloped the room. While the challah dough rose, Sheli shared her personal connection to the Mitzvah of Challah and how this transformed her into the person she is today. She spoke about the meaning behind this special day and inspired all those present with the experiences that shaped her life. She encouraged everyone to connect to others in their own way and expressed that giving is truly what brings happiness to yourself and those around you. Her words resonated deeply with the attendees. She inspired all those present to begin making Challah as a preparation for the day when they will soon be baking for their own precious families.
The highlight of the evening came as each one separated a piece of Challah offering up a heartfelt prayer for themselves and their friends beseeching Hashem to bless them with finding their intended partners. Emotions ran high as the list of names was read and the room fell silent as each one was given space to daven for their personal needs.The power of unity in that moment was palpable and the feeling of support radiated throughout the room.
As the evening progressed, the participants’ spirits were high, culminating in an exuberant and spontaneous outbreak of dance. The joy that filled the room was contagious and the dancing reflected hearts full of hope and happiness.
As the program came to an end, all present were imbued with a sense of fulfillment and gratitude. The Shidduch House Challah bake had not only been a delightful event, but a true testament to the strength of community, the power of shared intention and was a truly transformative experience. The event brought a feeling of unity and hope and left each attendee with a strong sense of support.

This was my first in person Challah bake and it was such a wonderful experience.
Full of camaraderie and joy, the challah bake was a celebration of who we are and what we can achieve. Beautifully arranged by Esther Berkowitz and Sheli Atara Mann, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, uplifting and empowering. Davening for so many, all together was really powerful.
So much joy filled the space and everyone left with a smile and a bowl of rising dough. Thank you so much for making this event possible!
