Packed with over one hundred new inspirational bite-sized stories, Seeds of Wisdom Volume 2 is a small book that makes a big impression.
Selected by Rabbi Mendel Kalmenson from hours of JEM’s acclaimed My Encounter interviews, Seeds of Wisdom Volume 2 presents a heartwarming collection of short stories and encounters individuals from all walks of life had with the Rebbe, seeking his counsel on an array of life-questions and challenges.
The first volume of Seeds of Wisdom received a glowing response. With endorsements by personalities the like of former Chief Rabbi Lord Dr. Jonathan Sacks and Joseph Telushkin, Seeds of Wisdom became a powerful advocate of the Rebbe’s message to an ever-growing audience.
After five printings and translations into multiple languages, JEM has announced the imminent publication of Volume Two.
More than just a description of the Rebbe’s approach to life, the book aims to transform ours. “It is a small book with big ideas,” says Rabbi Kalmanson.
“It’s called ‘Seeds of Wisdom.’ Just as a seed is tiny, yet contains enormous potential, so too with the stories and ideas of this book; though small in size, their power is infinite. If you discover yourself in these pages or your life is mysteriously enriched, that is the tremendous power of the Rebbe’s insight.”
Rabbi Kalmenson has authored numerous articles and essays on Jewish thought for the central website for all things Jewish, Chabad.org. He lives in London with his family, where he serves as rabbi and executive director of Chabad Belgravia.
More than answering questions, the Rebbe answered people. The Rebbe showed us how to appreciate the subtleties of each specific dilemma – seeing how each person and every situation in its own unique light. Accordingly, the stories of Seeds of Wisdom are to be approached as thought-provoking personal encounters with the Rebbe, but not necessarily as being universally applicable.
As with all their productions, many individuals were involved in the JEM team that brought this project together.
Mention must be made of Rabbi Elkanah Shmotkin, the visionary behind JEM and its driving force. His stubborn attention to detail and vast experience are invaluable.
Rabbi Yechiel Cagen, director of the My Encounter with the Rebbe project, was responsible for recording and bringing to the public domain much of the experiences cited in this book.
