Boys and girls from Chabad schools in the New York Tri-State area are gearing up for an exciting experience in two weeks.
The students will spend the day at the new American Dream Mall in New Jersey, enjoying the spectacular water park, which has been rented out for their use. The kids will also enjoy the mall’s indoor amusement park as well.
The trip is being coordinated by Rabbi Yossi Bryski of Oholei Torah and trip director Chaim Zippel. It will take place over 2 days, on Tuesday, May 11 for the boys and Wednesday, May 12, for the girls.
The trip is a reward for the children who have been working hard all year and studying for the Chidon. Students must have passed all four Chidon tests this year to qualify for the trip, organizer Chaim Zippel said.
This week, Bryski and Zippel visited the mall and parks to work out the logistics of hosting 700 children at a time for the day-long visit.
The trip is even more meaningful to organizers, since it represents many hours of hard work by the children, who were not even sure they would be receiving any reward for it.
“Last year, due to COVID, the Shabbaton and trips had to be canceled, to the great disappointment of the kids,” said Rabbi Yossi Bryski. “This year, the children nevertheless put heart and soul into studying for the Chidon without knowing what the outcome would be.
“And now that it is possible for them to go on this trip, we are making sure it will be extra special and exciting after all their hard work,” he said.
Special thanks to the Chidon Headquarters for their assistance.
