Message from Crown Heights Jewish Community Council:
NYC Sanitation has requested that we publicize the following: We are expecting snow and icy weather this coming Tuesday that may remain on the ground for a few days.
When the alleys are covered with snow and ice, NYC Sanitation is not able to safely collect trash in the alley.
For the duration of the difficult conditions, pickups of trash and recycling will be made on regular pick up days from the sidewalk in front of the homes.
This will prevent a build up of garbage and unsanitary conditions in the alleys. If the snow sticks, DSNY is requesting that residents place all items for collection in front of their homes for as long as the snow and ice remains in the alley. Please remember that new sanitation rules state that trash in bags may only be placed out after 8pm, while cans may be placed at the curb from 6pm.
Also, please note that there will be no collection tomorrow, Monday 2/12, for Lincoln’s Birthday and next Monday 2/19 for Presidents’ Day. Alternate Side Regulations are suspended on both days.
