Run4Yitzi 2025 has just concluded its 10th marathon to help support Rabbi Yitzi Hurwitz and his family, raising $250,000.
It was another fantastic, successful and memorable year. Over 135 runners ranging from 8 years old to 79 years old. Many runners were Run4Yitzi alumni, others their first time, families were running, people completed the half marathon and the 5K. Run4Yitzi was the largest group at the marathon. As each runner completed the race, they continued to stay on by the finish race to cheer on their fellow teammates (and others). This is something specific and special that Run4Yitzi does, and was noted by the marathon MC.
“To see the bright green and yellow Run4Yitzi shirts everywhere you turn among the marathon runners, was such a joy! 135 runners, young and old, wow!” said Rivka Teich, one of the Run4Yitzi organizers.
The participants enjoyed non-stop weekend full of fun in Florida. It started with a meet-and-greet at The Bagel Cove on Friday, moving onto a carb-loading and dance party Motzei Shabbos, completing the Miami 305 5K and 13.1 marathon Sunday morning, and culminating at a final banquet Sunday afternoon.
The runners got to listen to the moving words of Dina Hurwitz, whose meaningful talk came from the heart. Various runners shared their thoughts. And Yitzi himself sent a personal message to the Run4Yitzi team.
“Running the 305 Half Marathon with Run4Yitzi wasn’t just a race – it was a journey of heart, soul, and sweaty miracles. Every mile pushed me physically, but knowing I was running for something bigger kept me going. The energy, the unity, and the cause made it unforgettable. 13.1 miles of challenge, meaning, and insane Miami vibes – I’d do it all again I a heartbeat. Having finished the marathon, I realize that there were so many things in life I’ve doubted I could do, but now I know I can do them,” said S.B.O.
“Really special event for a really great cause. Does not feel commercial at all; it felt like family helping family,” said Iddo deVries.
It was such an amazing experience from start to finish, especially the race being with the team and cheering others on!” R.F.
As Rabbi Mushi Fogelman noted, “Run4Yitzi was an incredible event. We watched people use all their kochas hanafesh physically running, mentally preparing and verbally soliciting. All for the life of another Yid!! How truly incredible!!”
Run4Yitzi began in 2015 by Brocha and Mendel Lipkind with four runners and a $10,000 goal. Here we are in 2025, with over 135 runners, a goal of $250,000. Since its inception, Run4Yitzi has raised over a million and a half dollars for the Hurwitz family.
Run4Yitzi would like to thank their corporate sponsors, who made it possible to put this incredible marathon weekend together: COYA Therapeutics, C.A.R.E. Construction, RSJ Builders of Florida Inc., A. Roth & Co., Flame King, Ness Paper, iKippah.
