At almost all hours of the day, people of all ages are seen flocking to the house to drink a warm cup of coffee, grab a snack, eat a hearty meal meet up with friends and family, or to find a spot to daven and recite Tehillim.
Moshe Rubashkin, a charitable figure in Crown Heights is known to open his home for community events and simches. He is especially known for his huge temporary structure – and huge Sukkah – which is open to all.
Rubashkin has been addressing an urgent need to feed the many guests that come for Tishrei, many of whom do not have local families to host them or are left without a place for meals. He serves meals to bochurim, girls and families, and provides sleeping accommodations for hundreds.
Throughout the Tishrei month, Rubashkin hosts between 800 – 1,000 people for each meal daily, serving home-cooked holiday feasts of home cooked roast chicken, top quality meat, vegetables, salads, kugels and more.
A fundraising campaign is being launched on Tuesday to support the huge operation.
Can a person build a sukah in reshut harabim?
Amazing hospitality!
Question:
What is the halacha? Does one make a leshev basukkah brocha on a succa in a street? I’m not sure.
If not.. There should be a sign in the sukkah stating not to make a brocha and that one does not fulfill their obligation the first night with a meal there.
My only issue is that theres no parking spots for months after this. Please take down the Sukkah right after the holidays…PLEASE!!! IMPOSSIBLE to park this past year.
Thank you for being a role model for our community!
Moshe Rubashkin is a beast. We love it!!
If the city who owns the street gives it consent in writing or implied this sukah is kosher lemehadrin including the first nights’ mitzvah.
Please read the alter rebbe”s shulchan aruch on this issue before making such a declaration
Wow beautiful I love it Moshe Rubaskin you are amazing
