The Jewish community of Rostov gathered on Chof Cheshvan at the Rebbe Rashab’s Ohel, praying for the wellbeing of not only their own community but of the Pittsburgh Jewish community as well.
“It was horrific to hear the tragic news from Pittsburgh while I was unable to call home because it was still Shabbos there,” said Pittsburgh native, Kaila Danzinger, who has been on Shlichus in Rostov for the past 10 years.
“Receiving so many calls and messages from local community members worrying for the wellbeing of Jews halfway around the world was really heartwarming.”
“Everyone in the community wanted to help in some way, so we decided to encourage people to join us at the Ohel to recite Tehilim in honor of the victims in Pittsburgh,” said Rabbi Chaim Danzinger.
Following a meaningful visit to the Ohel, the community gathered in Shul for a traditional Chof Cheshvan farbrengen, with a guest speaker, Shliach to Siberia, Rabbi Aharon Wagner.
“We are in the finishing stages of the Ohels renovations and are very grateful for everyone who participated in this project. We look forward to welcoming all Anash who would like to visit Rostov and daven by the Ohel.”

Historically we have been known as tightly knit, cohesive, and a pretty good place to live. Our bubble burst a few years ago, when a prolonged… Read more »
