The High Holiday of Rosh Hashana was marked in the Marina Roscha Shul in central Moscow, headed by the Chief Rabbi of Russia, Rabbi Berel Lazar.
Thousands of Jews of all stripes gathered at many minyanim which were held around the main synagogue as well as in the various Jewish centers and institutions, carefully keeping all the rules of social distancing and wearing masks which were distributed to all who attended.
On the second day of the Yom Tov, a huge crowd gathered in the large plaza between the Chesed Center and the Jewish Museum, to hear the blasts of the shofar, in a special Shofar blowing for the Jewish public who did not participate in the indoor prayers. A Tashlich pond was set up in a nearby courtyard as well.
On the evening of the second day of Rosh Hashanah, a large Farbrengen was held as usual, participants returning home afterward uplifted and inspired by the special atmosphere.
