Chabad’s major donor George Rohr arrived in Crown Heights Sunday to congratulate Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky on his 60th birthday.
At a Farbrengen in Kotlarsky’s home on Crown Street, Rohr raised a L’Chaim and said: “The Rebbe had generals in his army; you are certainly one of them.”
Friends for over two decades, Kotlarsky has distributed mass sums from the Rohr Family Foundation to Lubavitch causes worldwide.
Rabbi Nachman Holtzberg, father of the slain Shliach in Mumbai, agreed.
“Reb Moshe is dedicated with heart and soul. He is like a friend and a brother – as if there is no day or night,” Holtzberg said.
The private event was attended by many employees of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, Chabad’s educational arm, of which Kotlarsky is Vice Chairman.
Chairman Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, Kehot’s Yossi Friedman, JLI’s Ephraim Mintz, Chabad.org’s Zalman Shmotkin, and JEM’s Elkana Shmotkin were there along with their staffs.
Also seen were Rabbis Azriel Chaikin, Binyomin Klein, Herbert Bomzer, Shmuel Butman, Shlomo Zarchi, Yosef Rosenfeld, Sholom Duchman, Aba Refson, Hershey Minkowitz from Georgia and Mendel Greisman from Arkansas.
Refering to the financial meltdown, Kotlarsky blessed that “those who should have, should have in abundance. We will do all we can that the Rebbe’s vision should be fulfilled.”
No cake with 61 candles? Not a Lubavitch custom?
Humble and bare, yet it’s the most comfortable home in crown heights.

Many of the generals that Mr. Rohr refered to were there to celebrate this milestone with one of their ranks.

Did Mr. Rohr vote when he was there
Goerge Rohr said:
“The Rebbe had generals in his army; you are certainly one of them.”
Very well said.
Mazal tov.
it may be a reflection of r’ moshe and his genuine warmth?
This personifies Rabbi Kotlarsky …
He is able to bring together so many and build bridges to further the Rebbe’s vision. The Kinus Hashluchim, under his leadership, was established as a unifying factor in Chabad and remains as such until this very day, despite monumental odds. Celebrating is 60th is a cause for us all to rejoice. May Hashem give him many more healthy an happy years.
