Rogers Park, a Chassidic American folk band, has released their first song and music video from their debut album which is due in stores later this year.
The title of the song “Golden Crown” is a reference to when the Jewish people declared at Mount Sinai “Naaseh V’Nishmah” – we will do, then we will hear. First we commit to doing, then we will listen and find the meaning. In return, every Jewish person was gifted 2 golden crowns.
They explain that Mattan Torah is likened to the marriage between Hashem and the Jewish people. It is also the model for all future marriages and relationships. The foundation of the relationship is commitment. Once there is commitment, it can allow for love and growth to happen. Even if there may be bumps along the way, the commitment keeps the relationship strong.
This theme is found in Elul when we begin to focus on Teshuvah – return. We turn to Hashem and ask him please help us return to who we really are! Our relationship is based on the commitment we made. We ask for Him, in turn, to look past any possible misdeeds and accept us based on that essential connection we have.
The duo of Yosef Peysin Mordy Kurtz is now on the final leg of their North America summer tour which has taken them through shows in Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and closing with 3 more in Ottawa, Canada in the coming weeks.

Lyrics:
Come my Love, to place where I will find,
Come my Love, where the Garden sets our mind. Really lovely!
Chorus:
On the Horizon where your eyes met mine,
You honor me with your Golden crown.
On the Horizon where your eyes met mine,
You honor me with your Golden Crown.
I am not a prophet nor of prophet’s blood,
still you welcome me, an honest earnings day.
You’ve opened all your inner doors,
that I may walk along with and secure your
On the horizon with your eyes in mine
You honor me with your Golden Crown.
On the horizon with your eyes in mine
You honor me with your Golden Crown.
And I have given all I can,
like water is to water, beast is brought to land.
You’ve filled me like I’ve never known,
as if I never stood to fight alone.
On the horizon with your eyes in mine
You honor me with your Golden Crown.
On the horizon with your eyes in mine
You honor me with your Golden Crown.
And when you speak your kindly words,
you lift me up inside into your world,
And why was I the gifted one,
A tree that’s planted and grows with no help from the sun.
On the horizon with your eyes in mine,
You honor me with your Golden Crown.
On the horizon with your eyes in mine,
You honor me with your Golden Crown.
On the horizon and our heart is one
You honor me with like your only son.
On the horizon and our heart is one
I’ll honor you with this Golden Sound.
