About a dozen of big families, young couples and singles gathered in Liebenwalde Hotel in the German town of Liebenwalde to share the joy of keeping shabbat together on November the 7th.
Regardless each ones background, every soul felt being a part of a big mishpocha in the midst of Prussian forest 60 km outside of Berlin.
The Shabbaton is organized every year by Shlucha Leah Teichtal and Rabbi Shmuel Segal from Jewish Educational Center Chabad Berlin.
Swimming in the pool, dancing to the Kinderlache Band, kosher BBQ, shiurim in three languages and of course joint services were among the highlights of the program.
Rabbi Shmuel Lew – the senior Chabad Rabbi from London impressed the Shabbaton guests by sharing his wisdom on the importance of the Khila and Rabbi Dov Baitman from Kiev gave some very useful secrets of a happy marriage.
“Not only did I have fun, I also learned a lot this weekend,” says one of the Jewish traditional school students, who came to the shabbaton with her mother. “I find it very sad, that not all of my family members were here.”
This year’s shabbaton was unlike last year’s, being that it was held in the winter and the summer activities were not available. However, this fact only fostered the warmer atmosphere inside.
“It was a wonderful experience of being together in love, care and harmony,” noted Leah, an active community member.
