Explosive charges brought down the remaining structure of the partially collapsed Champlain Towers South building in Surfside Sunday.
The decision to demolish the Surfside building came after concerns mounted that the damaged structure was at risk of falling, endangering the crews below and preventing them from operating in some areas.
“The implosion went as planned, masterfully handled via Miami Dade Rescue,” a first responder on the scene told COLlive. “From what I could see, it seemed to be contained to one side so as not to interfere with the previous collapse,” he said.
Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said officials would continue the search and rescue efforts on any sections that are “safe to access as soon as we are cleared.”

People are trying to say that this WAS similar to 9/11 in that it was on purpose. It is perfectly acceptable to speculate the cause of such an inexplicable disaster.
People feel more control of a situation when they have a conspiracy theory. “It was all planned” feels so much safer than “it was G-d planned” for some reason. Somehow then we feel we can avoid it. Even if people were seemingly behind it, it’s still G-ds plan.
