I have a letter that describes the story of the expensive special Sheytels that the rebbitzin wore and that the Rebbe advised a lady from France where to get a sheytel, in the same place that the Rebbitzen bought (custom made for her), in France.

Sheitlach in France were quite natural looking even late 40s. When my.mother was out with a sheitel a day after her wedding, the men who she described as אלע זיינען געווען בעל’ בתים אויף מיר since she lost her father at a young age, exclaimed
אויף דיר האב איך.ניט געריכט thinking it’s her hair.
