The Consulate General of Israel in New York hosted over one thousand guests on June 4th, celebrating the joint milestones of Israel’s 69th Independence Day and the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem.
Joining Israel’s Consul General to New York, Ambassador Dani Dayan, for an evening of entertainment and toasts to Israel, and the unique and unshakable bond it shares with the United States of America, included Mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barkat, Israeli and American elected officials, representatives from over 20 foreign countries, and compère Rita Cosby.
Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, representing Brooklyn’s Ninth Congressional District, was among the special guests invited to address the crowd, which included figures from every major national Jewish organization in America.
The celebration was held after the annual Celebrate Israel Parade.
Congresswoman Yvette Clarke injected Chabad Lubavich in her remarks, saying that “I represent one of the most diverse districts in the US Congress, and have the distinct honor of having the Chabad Lubavitch Headquarters in my district.”
The crowd applauded loudly, and other speakers took note of her Chabad Lubavitch mention.
The congresswoman was also applauded for her cosponsoring HR 1698 – The Iran Ballistic Missiles and International Sanctions Enforcement Act would expand sanctions against Iran in order to deter it from pursuing a ballistic missile program that threatens U.S. interests and the lives of millions across the region.
Let’s keep the momentum going…….
