A sofeq if the candle is there is not the same thing as the candle is for sure there and you are not sure if your action will extinguish it.

You mention that if a person is not sure if he taped the fridge or removed the bulb that you would not to be allowed to open the fridge based on the Alter Rebbe’s Din regarding if someone left a candle near a door and the wind may or may not blow it out that it is prohibited to open the door because a Sofek Psik Raisha is Osur. The question is whether you are allowed to close a circuit if the bulb is not there?
If there is no bulb then, by definition, there is no complete circuit. I.e., the place where the bulb would be screwed in leaves a gap in the circuit.
I love Safek d’rabannan arguments. Like Yibum as a d’oraitha option or conditional handwritten divorces after 10 years of no children (Abraham and Hajar).
