Rabbi Moshe New, Shliach and director of the Montreal Torah Center, reflects on Simchas Torah 5738 with the Rebbe. He recalls the Rebbe’s famous Sicha delivered from his room on Motzei Yom Tov via hookup.
In that remarkable Sicha, coming just 48 hours after suffering a severe heart attack, the Rebbe mustered the strength to address his Chasidim, and in a short talk made a point of stressing the importance of studying Chitas and participating in Keren Hashana, which he established in 1953 to ensure that we perform the life-sustaining mitzvah of Tzedakah every day.
As we prepare for the apex of Tishrei and celebrate Simchas Torah, let us remember to become contributors to Keren Hashana, the Rebbe’s daily giving fund.
