Rabbi Moshe New, Shliach and director of the Montreal Torah Center, reflects on Simchas Torah 5738 with the Rebbe. He recalls the Rebbe’s heartfelt Sicha, delivered from his room on Motzei Yom Tov via live hookup.
In that brief but impactful talk — just 48 hours after suffering a severe heart attack — the Rebbe emphasized the importance of daily Torah study (Chitas) and participation in Keren Hashana, the daily giving fund established in 1953 to help ensure we fulfill the mitzvah of Tzedakah every day.
As the auspicious month of Tishrei comes to a close, let us take inspiration from the Rebbe’s words and contribute to Keren Hashana regarding which the Rebbe said:
“This contribution will be a channel through which to bring down and enjoy G-d’s blessings, materially and spiritually, every day throughout the year.

The indescribable pain, emotion and apprehension mentioned is balanced with the love and delight the Rebbe gave his chosidim.
I very enjoy your online shiurim. This what you now said, was very touching, particularly that you ended with something very practical the Rebbe instructed. I had the zechus to learn with your father{chavrusa] in Melb many years ago and i must admit i learned a lot from him, particularly, his amazing ethical standards in bussiness. [I hope he is well] . Continue with your wonderful shiurim and inspiration.
