A record crowd of enthusiastic students and faculty from SUNY Downstate, along with robust support from the Crown Heights community, came together on Thursday night, the first night of Chanukah, for a Public Menorah Lighting. The event was organized by Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Holzman, the Rav and Shliach of SUNY Downstate, and the Rav of East Flatbush.
In reflecting on the evening’s success, Rabbi Holzman remarked, “This major hatzlacha has sent a resounding message of tremendous support, affirming that our light will overcome any and all darkness, Bisyata Dishmaya.”
The event also saw the presence of notable figures, including NYS Assemblyman Brian Cunningham and NYPD Inspector Gaby Celiba, adding to the significance of the occasion.
