A record number of 380 Bochurim have passed this year’s Hanachos program by the Vaad Hatmimim, which concluded with an event Sunday where the top 3 winners were announced.
Hanachos is a program in which Bochurim from 15 Mesivtas across America transcribe the Rebbe’s words on over 5 hours of the Rebbe’s Farbrengens.
The 6-week program leading up to Gimmel Tammuz had bochurim from 15 Mesivtas across America watch videos of the Rebbe each week and write their own ‘hanachos’ on the sichos they’ve watched. The program concluded with an event on Sunday in Lubavitch Yeshiva, where the Bochurim all wrote their final hanacha as part of the program.
The viewing was followed by a dinner during which the participants heard firsthand accounts from Chief Rabbi and Shliach of Eilat, Israel, Rabbi Yosef Hecht, who was a maniach during his years as a bochur.
They were also addressed by Alaska Shliach Rabbi Yoske Greenberg, who spoke about the importance of watching video Farbrengens of the Rebbe.
Representing the Bochurim was Sholom Traurig from Mesivta of Montreal, who shared the incredible impact the Hanachos program had on him and his fellow Yeshiva students. Each of the bochurim then received their reward of a $100 Kehos gift card.
The winners of the top Hanachos were chosen by Rabbi Avrohom Gerlitzky who was a maniach by the Rebbe. The winners were awarded all 120 seforim of Toras Menachem.
The winners were: For Shiur Aleph – Mendel Levertov of Chicago Mesivta; for Shiur Beis – Yitzchok Brown of Coral Springs Mesivta; for Shiur Gimmel Shalom Carrol of Ohr Tmimim.
Special thanks were given to director of the Vaad Hatmimim Rabbi Tzvi Altein and Bochurim Mendel Banon and Zelig Shemtov for arranging the program.
As well as supporters of the Vaad Hatmimim Rabbi Eliyahu Shlosberg and Rabbi Moshe Shilat of Keren Meromim who were present at the event.
