Almost 31 years ago, on November 4th, 1979 a group of Islamist students and militants took over the Embassy of the United States in Tehran.
Supporting “the Iranian Revolution,” they took over 50 Americans hostages for over 14 months – a few of them Jewish.
A little over a month later, on Yud Tes Kislev, the Rebbe spoke publicly, pronouncing that Iran’s moves signaled a shift in geo-politics, and that Iran was becoming a serious threat to the world at large – the United States and Israel, in particular.
