Several months ago, Chassidim worldwide were saddened to hear of the passing of Reb Yoel Kahan OBM, the Rebbe’s longtime ‘Chozer’. Always seeking to keep a low profile, much about his personal life was unknown, with few details revealed after his passing.
As the chief transcriber of the Rebbe’s words throughout the years, Reb Yoel would often make use of the recordings available of the Farbrengens to assist the transcribing process. Unknown however to many, is that Reb Yoel was an avid listener of the recordings of the Rebbe’s Farbrengens in his last years, making use of Ashreinu.app by JEM, the online home for the audio recordings of the Rebbe.
A recent search of the Kahan home after Reb Yoel’s passing uncovered a unique find; original audio reels of the Farbrengen of Yud Tes Kislev 5720. This Farbrengen is from the few remaining events of the first 2 decades of the Rebbe’s leadership awaiting to be restored by the Ashreinu team. These reels will now be transferred and carefully restored, preserved and published forever at Ashreinu.app in Reb Yoel’s memory.
