Reb Mottel (Mordechai Leib) Kalmanson, a longtime resident of Crown Heights, passed away on Shabbos, Chof Tes Adar, 5785.
He was 85, one month shy of his 86th birthday.
The son of R’ Yisroel Shimon and Chaya Sarah Kalmanson, he was a true chosid of the Rebbe and lived his life fulfilling the Rebbe’s peulos.
He organized the annual Seduah for the descendants of the Shpoler Zaide for many years and got a bottle of Mashke from the Rebbe for it.
In 1976, for the Rebbe’s 74th birthday, Reb Mottel was part of a group of chassidim that purchased the first Mitzvah Tank in Israel and presented the keys to the Rebbe at the Yud Alef Nissan Farbrengen. In later years the same group purchased a new car for the Rebbe.
He is survived by his wife, Leah Kalmanson and children Mendy Kalmanson (New Haven, CT) and Bassie Deitsch (New Haven, CT), and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings: Miriam Blizinsky (Crown Heights), Sholom Ber Kalmanson (Cincinnati, OH), Baila Greenbaum (Los Angeles, CA).
He was predeceased by his sister Rochel Heber obm.
Levaya will take place tomorrow, Sunday, passing by 770 at 12:00 pm, 1:00 pm cemetery.
Shiva will be at 1364 Carroll St till Tuesday evening

that last picture, are THE FRIENDS, Mulie Butman, Boruch Kievman, Nochum Pinson and Mottel Kalmenson giving the Rebbe the key to the ambulance. They were together at mannnnny farbrengens in each other’s houses. True friendship.

He was a good human being, a good Jew, and a good chasid. He had a special connection to the Rebbe, with many stories, directives, heartfelt emotions, etc. Also, conduct and practices of yiras shamayim and chasidishkeit were part and parcel of his persona, and he carried these out even when it was physically difficult for him.
One less person that knew the rebbe.
