A crowd of rabbonim, admurim and roshei yeshiva gathered at the Avnei Chen hall in the city of Beitar Illit for the presentation of the 8th volume of the elucidated series “Rambam Hashalem.”
It was published by an institute founded by Rabbi Shalom Dov Wolpo, a Chabad rov and veteran author, and a select group of young talmidei chachamim and kollel members.
The date chosen for the launch was Thursday, the eve of 20 Teves which is the yartzeit of Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon, known by the acronym the “Rambam,” and author of Mishneh Torah, the codification of Jewish law.
Rabbi Wolpo and his team set out to provide sources to all of the Rambam’s writings and explain his approach and choice of words. They also research the poskim that agree and disagree with the Rambam on key topics.
The series is currently only focusing on the laws of Shabbos. The 8th volume covered part of the 30 chapters the Rambam has written about them in his Mishneh Torah.
Participants at the celebration praised Rabbi Wolpo and his team for their scholarly and dedicated work that will help many in understanding and reaching greater depth while learning Rambam.
Rabbi Wolpo made special mention of Crown Heights philanthropist R’ Sholom Ber Drizin for sponsoring the institute’s work and publication, as well as Rebbetzin Sima Ralbag.
