Disgusted
October 12, 2011 5:04 am

This is extremely shocking yet pretty much expected; It starts with defying the Rabbonim (and all Torah authority for that matter…) then they go and twist around the Rebbe’s words so they”ll have SOMETHING to base their foolishness on. (our sages stated: “Hard (disturbing) was the day of the perversion of the Torah,(with Talmai Hamelech) like the day that the jews offered the golden calf”, we see from here the severity of such an act.) It goes on by desecrating the Rebbe’s name in countless ways; posting his picture on highways and busses, going around with a car, broadcasting on… Read more »

In UK if someone comes to hospital or doctor with assault injuries the incident is reported to police. The victim can decline to press charges, but there is a record kept in the A E .Sometimes police will anyway investigate especially if intimidation is a factor in the attack.

Your stories don’t really sound true. Even if they would be, there is no comparison from isolated cases of violence against meshichistim, which I would condone as well, to the organized crime of hendel and his hordes. No one has the guts to stand up to them, besides Rabbi Osdoba Shlit”a.

A story must be written with both sides
October 11, 2011 1:34 pm

Before anyone writes a comment, we need to know exactly what happened. We need to hear both sides of the story. I think COL live owes it to the public to find out all the details and interview both sides before they write such an article. Look at all the comments. So many take the article at face value and write their opinion before they know all the facts. The story is obviously one sided. These type of stories are what create machlokes, not the terror, not moshiach or no moshiach or beating up or whatever it is. It’s about… Read more »

i wish to inlighten you, these thugs will only (if not even) follow orders from R. broun or R. shvei (bc they follow orders from comander in chief mendy hendel) and rabbi osdobo knows that from experiece for the past ten+ years, therefore there is no point in trying to get them to a din torah. plus they have a very good example from R. broun for he was already sent three hazmonos l’din torah and ignores it (insted of trying to clear his name). as a side note i find it very amusing that they quote in the letter… Read more »

Y'omer Eisav YESH LI RAV
October 11, 2011 11:40 am

If they want to go to the Ohel, let them pay for their own trip. They take money from Aishel and Drizen to be in 770 with the rebbe, and then don’t even step into 770. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you. These people would never pay to go the Ohel, only after Hendel organized Aishel did they decide to come. The money should only be given to those who remain in 770 and don’t attend any other gatherings elsewhere. If they do attend- then next year they should not be given any money to come.

Once a big ‘anti’ told me to:
“Get rid of that ‘Moshiach’ button. Take it off your lapel…It’s ALL OVER! FINISHED!”

Dear #21, and others, I once lived in ‘Sefad.’ I wear a yellow-gold ‘Moshiach’ pin. I wear a ‘Yechi yarmulka.’ Simple question…Would The ‘Rebbe, MH”M’ condone beating up Jews? Does this question need an answer?! This type of behavior makes ‘The Rebbe, MH”M,’ weep. Is this ‘Ahavas Yisroel?’ So, my fellow Jews, don’t generalize. I say ‘Yechi.’ I don’t like it that others don’t say ‘Yechi,’ but I wouldn’t hit them, G-d forbid. They are my brothers (And sisters). I love them. I pity them…it brings me to tears. They lack something. This is the type of attitude ‘Dovid HaMelech’… Read more »

October 11, 2011 9:21 am

Let us understand this with the help of a parable. Five blind men were shown an elephant and asked what they “saw.” The first blind man, standing in front of the elephant, carefully examined the trunk. “It’s a large hosepipe,” he reported. The second blind man, standing at the back of the elephant, examined the tail and reported that it was a brush made up of long, wiry strands. The third blind man, standing at the side of the elephant said that, without a doubt, what he was standing before was a large leather wall. The fourth blind man, examining… Read more »

Q But, were these attackers ever warned by anyone? A According to halacha and any civil law “adam muad leolam” an adult human being is responsible for their own actions and therefore doe not need a warning to be liable for violent crimes. Q Do these Rabbonim know for a fact that bringing them (these specific attackers) before Rabbonim won’t help? A the Job of Rabbanim is not to deal with wild animals. Someone who commits violent crimes needs to be handled by those trained and hired by we the people to do so. Rabbanim should be approached first when… Read more »

Isnt this the bochur who gave a ride to kids who were part of a program from the Ohel to 770 without asking or finding out if there were adults in charge of them, the counselours in charge were going nuts looking for these kids and were understandingly very worked up and upset,if your kid was missing wouldnt you be mad at the person who took them?

October 11, 2011 2:00 am

Every case is different and may have different psak regarding going to the police. It’s an easy way out for a Rov to say go and denounce another jew. That’s the difference between the two letters.

One Sided?
October 11, 2011 1:24 am

While this is terrible, and I condemn it wholeheartedly, I believe the commenters here are being less than honest. Why do you ignore the violence going in the other direction? I was harassed and hit for wearing a yechi yarmulka. I’ve seen it many times. Three weeks back an American (so enough with the “let’s blame tzfattim for all of our problems) threw a sick man out of his wheel chair and beat the pulp out of him, ending by threatening to kill him. The wheelchair-bound man’s crime? Saying Yechi. So let’s cut the righteous denounciations of the “violent messianics.”… Read more »

I find it very difficult to grasp this comparison to the Satmar situation. In the later case, there was clear intention and a continued real threat of the infliction of very serious bodily injury and even worse chas vesholom. Their rabonim either encouraged or turned a blind eye. There was no other recourse. To compare this to some wild Israelis fighting in the street in CH? Do these assailants have a proven history of inflictin bodly harm to others? Have they been warned by Rabbonim before? YOU DO THE CRIME, YOU DO THE TIME. HONEYS, YOU LIVE IN AMERICA. YOU BEAT SOMEONE UP, YOU GO TO THE SLAMMER. Quit this messira business. Its baloney. You have an obligation to protect yourself and your fellow Jews from violent criminals. 1) Who is this violent Bochur’s mother? She needs a call. 2) Who is his Teacher? Perhaps he needs to be brought to trial for INCITING violence. 3) Deport anyone who knows of the crime and does not turm them in. That shud be helpful. Protection
October 10, 2011 9:14 pm

There must be some way to protect the kid and his family-these frei in frum clothing and twisted torah hashkafa need to be controlled; they sound more like the moslem factions that kill each other because one believes differently than the other. They scream Moshaich but keep the revelation from happening by their averias in “bein adom l’chavero”. Where has this kind of action ever been considered more that hooliganism or mafia style activity? They don’t have any relation to religious Jews-judge by their actions, not by their words or dress. Meshixtin are watching everything they wan being trampled on.

This is terrorism and it is very hard or impossible to fight terrorism as we see in Israel. The only thing they will understand is not giving them a visa to come to USA. Now they should be deported and hendel mendel with them I understand that some of them are not even Jewish. They got together with Jews in Israel and came here. People do not let them into your homes. They are dangerous.

October 10, 2011 7:35 pm

What kinds of Jews are these hoodlums? Do they not realize the hypocritical nature of their behavior? Does their view of Judaism condone attacking other Jews who hold an opinion or belief different from theirs? I am quite sure that the Rebbi would NOT condone this from either “side” of the belief. Indeed it was in his name that these chuligans attacked others, since reportedly they attacked others for not holding the belief the the Rebbe is Moshiach. Sad, sad, sad for them all.
