Rabbi Zushe Posner, longtime Shliach in Israel and Mashpia to generations of students, passed away on Friday, 12 Shvat, 5782.
Rabbi Posner was born in Elizabeth, NJ, in 5697 to his parents R’ Sholom and Chaya Posner.
A Shliach of the Rebbe to Israel since 5716, Rabbi Posner was one of the delegation of 12 bochurim sent by the Rebbe to Kfar Chabad to strengthen the community after Arab terrorists murdered residents in cold blood.
During a farbrengen he organized before he departed on Shlichus to Israel with his wife 2 years later, the Rebbe himself attended and said a few words, speaking with unique expression about those who work in the field of Chinuch and gave R’ Zushe blessings.
A devoted Chosid, Rabbi Posner was present when the Rebbe said the first Maamer of Basi Legani 5711, his family related.
He served as a Mashpia in the Lod Yeshiva and other Yeshivas and various Shuls in Israel, and has influenced generations of students.
His farbrengens were unique and left a strong impression on participants. Last Adar, he led a Farbrengen in Kfar Chabad to mark his 85th birthday.
In the last few weeks, his health deteriorated, and he was hospitalized.
He was predeceased by his wife Yehudis Posner obm two years ago.
He is survived by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who follow in his ways, many of whom serve as Shluchim around the world.

He is also survived by his siblings Rabbi Leibel Posner, Mrs. Sara Rivka Sassonkin and Mrs. Bassie Garelik.
The levaya took place today in Israel.

He had no sense of any caste system. Every Jew was on his level. Every. Single Jew.

Exactly!!! He left an impression on my daughters who went to seminary in Israel. He was the real ‘thing’. So much to learn from.
He was a special person
Growing up my father would talk about his mashpia, R’ Zushe, who made sure he was boki in the Frediekeh Rebbe’s Zichronos and Lekutie Diburim, Later I got to meet and farbreng with R’ Zushe in 770. He never lost focus, he would counted the days (and unfortunately months and years…) since we last saw The Rebbe. He spoke Hiskashrus. One of my favorite Dvar Torahs from him was about Dasam and Avirom, R’ Zushe explained that They were “holy” Jews.
