Last night in Monsey, two of today’s most well known teachers of chasidus, Rabbis YY Jacobson and Shais Taub, teamed up to lead a 19 Kislev farbrengen entitled “Tanya for Our Times.” Over 200 men and women filled the tent at the Ohr HaChayim Bais HaMedrash while another 8,000 watched online.
The farbrengen which lasted for over seven hours covered some of the most fundamental and revolutionary ideas of chasidus affecting the way we see ourselves and our service of Hashem in this generation. “We are not bad people trying to be good,” said both rabbis repeatedly, “We are broken people trying to become whole.” The thrust of the farbrengen focused on one central point, that as we stand on the eve of Geulah, we need to embrace our own essential goodness.
Singing sensation Eli Marcus lent his vocal talents to lead the niggunim. Piano accompaniment was provided by Yisrael Edelson.

If my teachers in yeshiva were this captivating and full of content, I’d be a much more inspired person.
I sometimes think that too, yet then I realize that we need to be a Keli to appreciate the depth and richness of chassidus .
I am grateful to all those who share farbrengens online. Adds so much to my life.
