When my husband was the Menahel of the Talmud Torah in Shikun Chabad in Jerusalem, he arrived from Russia and entered the Talmud Torah, He was a bright and intelligent young boy and I remember him as such. This was in / 1965-66.
Hamakom yinachem eschem besoich aveilai tzion virushalayim.
What a giant of a human being who loved life so, and made others love life as well.
Reb Yosske’ was the epitome of a true Chossid, a true Yid in every sense of the word always with a continuous, contagious and infectious smile!
Reb Yosske’ was a gift to the whole of South Florida and all the world.

The Friedfertig and Mayberg Families
Heartbroken. A true chosid of a different kind than what we have today. The family is going through such loss and sadness but this is as well A major loss and sadness to lubavitchers as well and the pain is felt by so many. A man who knew the rebbe in such detail and loved the Rebbe as a chosid is supposed to; with honor and fear.
May the family know only comfort and brochos. And may Reb Yoskes neshama have the highest of aliyah and have a seat around the Rebbes farbrengen.

Such a huge loss, I grew up in Miami Beach and always admired his down to earth Chassidishkeit. He was full of real warmth, joy, humor, and sincerity. He was genuinely kind and caring even to a little kid. Wishing his amazing family strength during this painful time. Hashem should bless you all with only Happiness.
Laughed. Made others laugh. Shared stories and derhers. Fabrenged…lifted us up. Empowered us. Exemplified humility and avoda. Lucky are those who got to spend time with him. BezH techiyas hameisim will happen now!
I was with him

I only met Rabbi Sossonko once, when Chana and Chezky were shluchim in our small town in Oregon. Their first event was for Purim and the only people who showed up were me and my daughters. R. Sossonko leined the megillah just for us, and I have never heard it done so beautifully by anyone since. Then one other guy showed up an hour late, I don’t think he even knew that hearing megillah was a mitzva. But R. Sossonko insisted on leining all over again just for him. I will never forget it. He exuded such warmth and love… Read more »
