Australian business magnate and Shliach Rabbi Yosef Gutnick recently led a farbrengen at the Aliya Institute in Crown Heights, together with its director Rabbi Moshe Feiglin.
Rabbi Gutnick is the chairman and CEO of numerous gold companies, former director of the World Gold Council, and former president of the Melbourne Football Club. He fascinated Aliya boys with his life story.
He shared how he has been guided by the Rebbe in all of his business dealings. “The Rebbe’s guidance from over 30 years ago is even more relevant today,” he told them.
Rabbi Gutnick said that controversial billionaire investor and philanthropist George Soros invested in one of his companies. Once, Rabbi Gutnick told, Soros called him asking how the Rebbe’s blessings work and how he can get them as well.
Rabbi Gutnick, who is the Rebbe’s Special Emissary for the Integrity of the Land of Israel, told how about when he had to have security guards around his house in Melbourne because of his involvement in Israeli politics.
“The Aliya members were also very impressed with Rabbi Gutnick,” Rabbi Feiglin commented. “They said that he was a very warm and genuine person. They also said that he was very interested in learning about their life stories. He left everyone feeling inspired.”
