Rabbi Yisroel Menachem Pshemish, a longtime Crown Heights resident, passed away on Wednesday, 24 Cheshvan, 5781.
He was 84.
Rabbi Pshemish was originally a Skver Chosid, who moved to Crown Heights in the 1980’s and became a Lubavitcher Chossid.
He became a devoted chosid of the Rebbe who taught his family to have a strong connection to the Rebbe and Chassidus.
“Every word out of his mouth was about Moshiach,” a family member said. “When he was asked how are you, his answer always was, ‘Baruch Hashem, but we want Moshiach now.'”
In the early 80’s he sent a sefer which his father had received from an elderly chosid who had survived Siberian exile, to the Rebbe. The Sefer contained hints to Moshiach’s arrival.
At farbrengen later, the Rebbe said, “hoirani chochom echad,” regarding Rabbi Pshemish, who had sent in the sefer.
In the last few years, his wife devotedly cared for him while he battled illness.
He is survived by his wife, Chana and children, Malky Braun – Boro Park, Elky Fishman – Lakewood, Suri Katz – Toms River, NJ, Nuchem Pshemish – London, England, Blimy Shetrit – Flatbush, Yakov Yosef Pshemish – Toronto, Miriam Ginsberg – Kensington, Motty Pshemish – Boca Raton, FL, and Aaron Pshemish – Crown Heights.
The Levaya will take place today, Wednesday, 11:30 am by Pshemish residence (Empire Blvd), 11:45 by 770, 12:45 at Montefiore cemetery.
