We met Rabbi Ysroel Jacobs in a mitzva tank in London, I was with a friend and I pushed my friend to take the offer to put on Tefilin. Ysroel shared his phone with this non religious friend and from this day he started sending him uplifting texts and phone calls. He made time to call him often and never let him know about his situation or talked about himself, it was all about giving the other person. As a woman I have never talked to Ysroel but I have asked my friend to forward me his inspiring text messages.… Read more »

A True Fighter
January 9, 2021 10:24 pm

A Jew that went against all odds. In yeshiva whenever I felt like complaining just looking at him and what he went through day and night was a true inspiration and made all complaints fade away. He lived with true 24h mesiras nefesh. I always wondered what gave him the courage.
I am terribly sorry your loss!
המקום ינחם אתכם מתוך שאר אבלי ציון וירושלים ושלא תדעו משום צער ונזכה לגאולה השלימה תיכף ומיד ממש

Thank you!

Thank you Chay,
You summed him up really well!

I am not sure what gave him the courage either.

He must have had a very special Neshomo and all that got to know him were lucky to have had that privilege.

I used to walk home with Yisrolik from Mechina and Shul in the late 80’s and early 90’s, and we would talk. He was always an inspiration.

He went through a lot, but was always motivated, animated and upbeat, He never complained about his difficulties (the only thing he complained about, were things that he saw happened and he felt were wrong).

As I look back now, I realize how much he taught me just by being who he was.

I will always cherish those memories

Yisrolik was an amazing guy, always kind, always positive, always with a smile! I used to speak with him often on visits to Schoenfeld Square when I met him in the corridor on his way to the shul there. I asked him a few times if he wanted to keep walking or sit down, he always said no, he was OK to stand, I believe the Aibishter (and the wall) held him up so he could do another Mitzvah! He didn’t want me to feel it was difficult for him! I’m sure he will be storming the heavens together with… Read more »

B”DE, this is terribly sad news for Klal Yisroel! Yosrolik was a friend to all. He was someone who could shmooze with people for hours! He was a incredible person and an inspiration despite and because of all of the challenges he faced. I remember drawing a picture of him getting a dollar from the Rebbe that he treasured deeply, he was a true mekushar. To his personal and extended family-May Hashem provide you comfort during this difficult time. Moshinah now! Yossi K. Boca Raton, Florida
