Rabbi Yerachmiel Alperowitz, 95, OBM

Rabbi Yerachmiel Alperowitz, one of the respected elder Chassidim from Jerusalem, Israel who was an educator of children with the encouragement of the Frierdiker Rebbe and who received many directives from the Rebbe in the field of education, passed away on Shabbos, 18 Adar, 5783.

He was 95.

Rabbi Yerachmiel Alperowitz was born in Moscow, Russia, on the 7th of Adar 1928 to his parents Rabbi Chaim Moshe and Doba Gita Alperowitz. On 13 Iyar 5695, the family immigrated to Eretz Yisrael.

In the year 5701, he began his studies at the Chai Olam Yeshiva and later the Achei Temimim Yeshiva in Tel Aviv, until the year 5709.

In the years after his marriage to Mrs. Fruma, they lived in Bnei Brak, Israel, for 40 years. After the passing of his wife Fruma, he remarried and they moved to Jerusalem.

In the year 5709, Rabbi Yerachmiel merited to receive the blessing of the Frierdiker Rebbe in the field of education, that his students would grow up to be Yirei Shamayaim – G-d fearing, and Lamdanim – Torah scholars.

He was very much in demand in the field of education. He taught in the Chabad Cheder in Kfar Saba and served as a teacher in the non-Chabad Talmud Torah of Independent Education, after the Rebbe told him that a Chosid brings Chassidus to his surroundings. He taught Chasidus in his lessons and would regularly hang photos of the Chabad Rebbeim in his classroom.

He is survived by his children, Rabbi Ozer Alperowitz – Kfar Chabad, Rabbi Shloime Alperowitz – Kfar Chabad, Rabbi Yekutiel Alperowitz – Nachalas Har Chabad, Israel, Rabbi Yosef Lipa Alperowitz – Yerushalayim, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Alperowitz – Crown Heights, Rabbi Shmuel Alperowitz – Vienna, Mrs. Sarah Sasha Alperowitz, Mrs. Rivkah Sheingarten – Argentina.

The Levaya took place in Jerusalem with burial on Har Hazeisim.
