The entire 12th grade class of Beis Rivkah High School in Crown Heights recently visited the Rebbe’s Ohel in honor of 10 Shevat and the upcoming 22 Shevat and prepared in a special way.
They were hosted in the event hall of the Shmotkin house in Cambria Heights near the Ohel. The home was completely remodeled by Rabbi Elkanah Shmotkin of JEM to serve as an upscale rental venue for groups and individuals for educational events and simchas, as well as limited Shabbos accommodations.
In partnership with Mrs. Tamar Pewzner of the Five Towns, teachers Mrs. Rivkah Gluckowsky and Mrs. Mira Gurary arranged for shliach, author, and lecturer, Rabbi Shais Taub, to meet with the girls before their visit to the Ohel and help prepare them.
Rabbi Taub spoke sensitively and honestly with the girls for an hour and fifteen minutes (hear the full recording below) about our connection with the Rebbe and the power of visiting the Ohel.
The impact of the experience was seen right away, as one teacher remarked, “I just spoke with a few students on the bus. They said this was the first time they felt prepared to go to yechidus. Rabbi Taub’s talk opened up a whole new world for them.”
Mrs. Pewzner chose the venue because “our girls deserve the best.” She says that she is working with BRHS to provide students with more experiences like this one in the future.
