Thousands of women and girls around the world have just completed a year-long commitment to strengthening their focus and concentration in the Shema prayer. The special initiative was launched by Ezer Mizion, a massive social services organization in Israel and the world’s largest Jewish bone marrow donor registry and was dedicated in memory of 15-year-old Liel Namdar of Great Neck whose life was tragically cut short this past year.
Liel Dina bas Efraim was passionate about the mitzvah of Shema, always reminding others to say Shema each day. The last text she sent before her accident was asking a friend to remind her to say Shema before bed.
Once a month, another inspiring speaker addressed the virtual gathering to highlight a different aspect of the power of the Shema prayer. For the final event of the year, renowned lecturer Rabbi Shais Taub was invited to be the speaker. Rabbi Taub congratulated the women and girls who took part in this important endeavor and reminded them of the deep spiritual powers that they bring out of themselves when they Shema.
