Rabbi Shlomo Weg, a Chossid and longtime resident of Crown Heights, passed away on Shmini Atzeres, 22 Tishrei, 5782.
He was 88.
R’ Shlomo grew up in Siberia in the USSR. He emigrated from Russia to the US at age 14 after a stay in Germany in a DP camp.
A longtime resident of Crown Heights for many decades, he was very devoted to the Rebbe and merited to have yechidus meetings many times.
A dedicated chosid, he was careful never to sit at the Rebbe’s farbrengen or at any time in the Rebbe’s presence.
He is survived by his children, Avrohom Weg – Crown Heights, Yehuda Weg, Oklahoma, and Matti Korf – Crown Heights.
The levaya will take place tomorrow, Thursday, leaving Shomrei Hadas in Boro Park at 2 pm, passing by 770 at 3 pm. K’vurah in Montefiore Cemetery.

For many years R’ Shlomo was a great help with the minyonim on his block.

Rabbi Weg worked for many years as a mail sorter in the main post office in downtown Brooklyn. Her worked from midnight till 8 AM. Each night, he would chazer an entire Seder mishnayos bal peh. He once turned down a promotion as it would mean he would no longer be able to Chazer mishnayos. He and his wife A”H were the embodiment of a Chassidishe couple. Their house was always filled with guests and they excelled in taking care of Chassanim and kallos.
