Rabbi Shalom Elmaleh, a longtime Shliach in Milan, Italy, passed away on Tuesday, 28 Sivan, 5781.
He was 74.
Rabbi Elmaleh was a devoted Shliach who ran the Naar Israel center in Milan for decades.
He also directed an organization for Kosher supervision, supervising the production of kosher wine and other foods in Italy for many years.
As part of his work with Naar Israel, Rabbi Elmaleh would set up a large Menorah and a grand Sukkah in the center of the city each year, bringing great publicity to the Jewish holidays.
He was known as a humble and refined person who greeted everyone he met with kindness.
He is survived by his wife Simy and children, Dina Brawer – Boston, MA, Michael Elmaleh – Italy, Gad Elmaleh – Italy, Chava Kleinman – Haifa, Israel, Aryeh Elmaleh – Italy, Devorah Matuf – Lod, Israel and Esther Elmaleh – Italy.
The levaya will take place Wednesday in Jerusalem.
