A recent meeting of parents in crisis was graced by a special visit by renowned author and lecturer, Rabbi Shais Taub.
The group meets weekly in Flatbush at the center run by Avi Fishoff who guides families dealing with severe crisis situations involving what is commonly referred to as “OTD” children. Periodically, various esteemed rabbinic guests from all segments of Klal Yisrael are brought in to address the group and provide inspiration.
Recently, Rabbi Shais Taub, well known for his special ability to translate the depth of Chabad chasidic teachings into contemporary, relevant, and compassionate language, was called upon to speak to some of the unique challenges faced by these parents.
Rabbi Taub fielded questions from the parents and spoke about subjects including healing from intimate wounds, the power of acceptance, and why parents need to avoid attempts at manipulation. His parting words to them consisted of a powerful two-minute story about the Rebbe which, as Taub said, “needs no explanation.”
