The 4th annual Simchas Beis Hashoeiva in Toronto, Ontario, took place Motzoei Shabbos Chol Hamoed Sukkos at the Edinburgh shul’s parking lot which filled the adjoining street.
Young and old came to join the traditional celebration with singing and dancing.
Canadian-based Chassidic singer Shlomo Simcha gave a surprise performance.
The event was organized by Rabbi Dovid Chaikin.
One of the participants was Rabbi Dr. J. Immanuel Schochet, a world renowned Chabad scholar, who is successfully recovering from a life-threatening illness.
The 74 year-old Schochet, legendary for his vast knowledge of Torah and Chassidus, was seen dancing and conversing with fellow community members.

According to reports Reb Mendel did smile for a tenth of a second after that picture was taken. Shame the lense wasn’t fast enough.
I can tell you he blew shofar in Shul on Rosh Hashanah. He fasted and spoke in Shul on Yom Kippur. He danced Simchas Torah, shlepped everyone else in, did special hakofos for the children and davened Musaf for the omud. His theme before his surgery was ‘venahapoch hu.’ We fulfiled that as he did ‘oiseh sholom’ from Musaf when we flipped him right over. He should have a refua shlaima and enjoy many more Tishreis with his family and us, his kehila.
I’ve seen him recently smile and all. The two pics are a bit shvach and dont reflect the simcha and bitochon that this incredible man has. Still he’s dancing and that’s enough, till Moshiach speedily.
