Chief Rabbi of England Dr. Jonathan Sacks‘ admiration of the Lubavitcher Rebbe and close ties with the Chabad-Lubavitch movment are well known and publicized over the years.
But as he nears his retirement in September 2013, the gifted orator will be given the podium at Chabad’s annual gala banquet to describe that friendship in his own words.
The organizing committee of the International Kinus Hashluchim announced Tuesday that Rabbi Sacks will be the guest speaker at the annual conference in New York, to take place November 23 – 28, 2011 (26 Cheshvan – 2 Kislev 5772).
The noted author, orator and communal leader will be addressing an audience of close to five thousand Shluchim and lay leaders at the annual conference, the organizers of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch said in a statement.
Sacks was a university student when he first met the Rebbe in Brooklyn in 1968. Upon hearing his many questions about faith, the Rebbe challenged him to become a leader, thus inspiring him to become a Rabbi and eventually the Chief Rabbi of the Commonwealth.
He went on to write several books, among them “Torah Studies – A Parsha Anthology: Discourses by Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson” which was published in 1996 by Kehot Publication Society and recently reprinted.
Rabbi Sacks enjoys friendships with numerous Chabad Rabbis and Shluchim throughout the United Kingdom and beyond.

good choice. Rabbi Sacks is actually a great speaker and has a lot to say about Chabad and the Rebbe. He went to yeshiva to Kfar Chabad. He could have been a Chabadnik. Not sure what happened on the way.
Looking forward the kinus live.
