After a busy week with public Menorah lightings at the Nassau County Government Headquarters, Winthrop University Hospital, Nassau County Jail, Chabad of Mineola will be lighting all 8 candles on the Chanukah Telethon this Sunday.
Hosted by Chabad of Mineola’s Rabbi Anchelle Perl, the telethon will be aired 7:00 -11:00 pm Eastern Time on JBS Cablevision CH 138 WRNN-TV FIOS-6, Time Warner-22/91NYC, Comcast -19 (NJ) 25 (CT), Direct TV- CH48 and online at Chanukahtelethon.com.
The Telethon is a popular Chanukah annual event, a star-studded event featuring sketch comedy, parodies, videos, live musical performances and short appeals films that shed light on those in need.
The emcee will be is Nachum Segal with Segment Hosts: Mickey B, Bernie Furshpan, Leni Goldsmith, Jay Mostel and Kive Strickoff.
Entertainers include the Frisch School Jazz band, Cantor Natanel Hershtik, Paul Shapiro, the Pella Acapella Singers, the Jewish rocker Lenny Solomon, the Neshoma Orchestra with Steve Bill and the famous Dancing Rabbis.
“Behind the fun and entertainment of the Chabad Chanukah Telethon is a very serious purpose,” explains Rabbi Perl. “It’s all about meeting the serious challenges of our times, it’s all about providing a warm “home away from home” for those who fall between the cracks.”
Funds raised on the Chanukah Telethon will be supporting the ongoing humanitarian programs of the Chabad of Mineola in Long Island and provide vital resources in uplifting the lives of individuals and families, in an atmosphere of inclusiveness and caring.
