Rabbi Naftoli Tzvi Gottlieb, an elder Chosid and resident of Beitar Illit, Israel, passed away on Sunday, 15 Tammuz, 5777.
He was 82.
Rabbi Gottlieb was a member and secretary of Collel Chabad in Israel and the Gabbai in the Chabad Shul in Meah Shearim, Israel.
He was a prolific writer of Jewish scholarly books, who began writing in 5735, when the Rebbe instructed him to begin writing a biography on the Rebbe’s father.
Throughout the time he was involved in writing the book, the Rebbe gave him advice and offered edits on the writing.
He is survived by his wife, Gittel Shprintza Gottlieb, and children, Rabbi Chaim Gottlieb – Jerusalem, Rabbi Sholom Gottlieb – Nikolayev, Ukraine, Rabbi Moshe Gottlieb – Crown Heights, Rabbi Shimon Gottlieb – Crown Heights, Meir Gottlieb – Flatbush, NY, Velvel Gottlieb – Jerusalem, Mrs. Chanie Dunin – Migdal Ha’emek, Mrs. Leah Rabinowitz – Beitar Illit, Israel, Mrs. Esther Sheiner – Beitar Illit, Israel, and Mrs. Liba Shteisel – Ashdod, Israel, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The levaya took place today in Jerusalem, Israel.
Moshe Gottlieb of Crown Heights will be sitting Shiva at 264 E. 91st Street, between Winthrop and Clarkson.
