Renowned lecturer Rabbi Manis Friedman made his first address in Lakewood, NJ, last Thursday night.
In an amazing evening hosted by Yosef Shidler of CJ Studios, together with local Lakewood shluchim, Lakewood was treated to a shiur for men and women followed by a farbrengen for men that went well past 1:30 am.
“After a year of pushing from my dear friend Moshe Kravitsky, I asked Zalman Friedman when we could bring his father to Lakewood,” Yosef Shidler said. “Last week we finally accomplished it, and it was an amazing night. First a shiur on Yom Tov, followed by a farbrengen that went well past 1am.
“At 8:30, when it was meant to begin, the room was almost empty. Honestly I was prepared for the worst. I sat down and just started to listen. At 9:15 I turned around to see the men’s side was almost standing room only, and the women’s side had at least half the chairs taken,” Shidler said.
“The Farbrengen was a little quieter, but still hosted over 50 people, in and out through the night. The crowd was captivated and would not let him go. Questions kept coming in. It was a very deep and thought provoking night.”
A special thank you to everyone involved in making this happen Including a huge thanks to the Chesnut and Stamford Meadows shuls for their assistance. Also special thanks to Rabbi Shmuel Naparstek and Rabbi Moshe Gourarie for their involvement in making this a success. Also thanked were Sarah Shidler and Leah Hersh, Evergreen in Lakewood together with Alex Medjuck, and a few private donors.
