Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau, the former chief rabbi of Israel and Tel Aviv, has tested positive for coronavirus just days after receiving the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
Rabbi Lau, 83, was one of the first in the country to publically receive the vaccine in an effort to subdue the Covid-19 pandemic. Over 2 million Israelis have already received the first shot of the vaccine, and nearly 225,000 have been administered the second dose, Times of Israel reported.
His grandson Yedidya Lau tweeted on Motzoei Shabbos that Rabbi Lau “tested positive over the weekend,” but that “he is feeling great and does not have any symptoms.”
He added that Rabbi Lau contracted it from his wife Mrs. Chaya-Ita Lau who tested positive at the beginning of last week.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is around 52% effective after the first dose, which increases to about 95% a number of days after the second dose, according to the Times of Israel. It seems like Rabbi Lau was infected within days of receiving the second dose.
“You must not be afraid. Vaccination is an obligation for all of us,” Rabbi Lau said when receiving the first dose.

The whole point of the vaccine was to protect the body in the case someone gets infected
ShareHence no symptoms
ShareLook it up
ShareThe vaccine does not make you test positive. The vaccine makes you produce the spike protein of the corona virus. The spike protein is supposed to trigger an immune response to covid. You are not inoculated with covid in the vaccine. I am a nurse with a degree in biology. Other vaccines for other viruses may be weakened forms of the virus or a similar virus, but not in the case of the pfizer vaccine
ShareBc it is in your blood. But you wont get corona
ShareThere is a possibility that he may have already been infected (asymptomatic) before receiving the vaccine. Unless he was tested and results were negative before vaccine….
ShareHe had dose 1 and 2 of th vaccine. I believe they are taken 3 weeks apart so before he had the vaccine he want infected. He got it from his wife who got it last week.
Share4700 Israelis have Covid and got the vaccine. A few hundred are in the hospital with it.
It takes up to two weeks to reach full protection (reduction of risk by 95%)
ShareIt takes up to two weeks to reach full protection (reduction of risk by 95%) after receiving the 2nd dose. It’s also likely that he got infected before receiving it (the incubation period is 2-14 days).
ShareI don’t know what this is called but this is certainly not a vaccine. Even the CDC doesn’t give a correct translation of a vaccine. A vaccine is when we get a shot in the hospital (as babies) so that we don’t get certain viruses EVER! This “vaccine ” was suppose to be 95% effective BUT IT WASN’T EVEN! Now it takes years to get a 100% correct vaccine? Maybe but don’t mislead us into saying vaccine. It’s a temporary shot to help but apparently it didn’t even help.
ShareP.s. for people who are serious about to protect from this virus which so far to my knowledge it has helped – keep with vitamins (which the CDC scientist are against) if its vitamin C, or D or zinc. Any immune related is fine and most effective! I wish we could also get the name of the essential oils that rabbi moshe rubashkin was giving out when his father obm passed away – that also helps tremendously he said but I don’t know the name…
Better to get a virus with a 99% recovery rate than get an experimental vaccine which is 95% effective and might come with many unknown side effects
Sharetea tree oil, eucalyptus oil and lavender oil.
Sharebut i saw in a health group that they added to the tea tree and eucalyptus oregano oil and rosemary oil instead of the lavender.
He got it within a few days after the second dose. I believe it takes about 9 days to be effective.
ShareIt takes at leas t two weeks to build up immunity.
ShareOne of the awful side affects of this deadly vaccine is that it actually causes covid!
ShareJust scaring people off of getting the vaccine for no reason at all
ShareWhat is his full 😳 name?
ShareMay I request that when collive.com posts someone is diagnosed with covid to please post full name even when there are no symptoms. you may not want people to worry so possibly may I suggest to have as a good policy to have names posted for people which you report having covid regardless of severity of their symptoms. ( especially elderly people)
ShareThank you.

The vaccine was successful in stopping all symptoms of the disease, BH, BH. He survived unharmed. Can’t wait to get mine because the disease itself is so devastating for high risk people.
ShareWe have both heart and lung patients in our family who both had the virus with no issue or complication whatsoever bh tfoo tfoo! We are so glad we won’t risk a vaccine which has had detrimental effects especially on high risk patients. We now already know this.
ShareIt can take up to two weeks after receiving the 2nd dose to reach 95% protection. Please correct. Additionally, he was in close contact with someone who COVID19 for prolong periods of time, which put him at extreme levels of elevated risk. We should trust the science and the FDA review process and be cautious of jumping to conclusions.
ShareThe incubation period is 2-14 days. It is probable that he received the 2nd dose after the initial infection.
ShareHe has already said that he got it from his wife between the two doses of the vaccine i.e. he wasn’t fully vaccinated. This is clickbait if you don’t explain further.
ShareWhile 95% effective in preventing someone from getting Covid (after 2 doses and time for immune response) the vaccine is ALSO incredibly effective at preventing severe disease. Those who do contract Covid after getting vaccinated have very mild symptoms. Of the 32,000 people who received the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine in a research trial, only ONE person contracted a severe Covid case. The fact that Rabbi Lau, who is 83 and high risk, is asymptomatic is AMAZING and a huge success.
