Rabbi Yehuda Leib Groner OBM began his special connection with the Rebbe in 5704 (1944) when the Rebbe would daven in the younger bochurim’s minyan at 770 Eastern Parkway for his father, Harav Levi Yitzchok Schneerson OBM.
Rabbi Groner, then a 13-year-old boy, would make sure that at least 6 of the boys present would be ready to begin Hodu at the proper time. It wouldn’t be fitting for the Rebbe’s son-in-law to waste even one second of his precious time, he thought.
Their connection continued to strengthen and develop and by 5709, Rabbi Leibel Groner was working as the future Rebbe’s assistant. After the Frierdiker Rebbe passed away on Yud Shvat 5710 (1950), Rabbi Groner began serving as the Rebbe’s personal secretary, a position he held for a full forty-five years.
Over the years, Rabbi Groner shared many wondrous, and incredible stories, miracles that he had seen with his own eyes. These memories offered the chassidim and Jews of all backgrounds a unique glimpse into what occurred in the Rebbe’s room.
When Rabbi Groner passed away, his family decided to preserve these memories, and present them along with pictures in a comic book form so they can be easily read and enjoyed.
His grandson Levi Groner of Malchus Haketer publishers worked together with the talented Chassidishe artist R’ Yeshayahu Brill on the book to beautifully portray these stories accurately.
“It is our hope that by reading the stories in this book, it will awaken within you a desire to see the Rebbe with your own eyes, with the Geulah, may it be speedily in our days!” he said.
