On Wednesday, Rabbi Leibel Groner was seen at the Rebbe‘s Ohel in Queens davening at 5:30 AM on the auspicious day of Yud Shvat.
The long-time mazkir of the Rebbe was marking the yartzeit of the Rebbe Rayatz 70 years ago and the day the Rebbe began his leadership of Chabad-Lubavitch.
Rabbi Groner merited to work for the Rebbe from the 1940s even prior to the Rebbe accepting the Nesius (leadership) and onward. Over the years, he was a primary contact between the Rebbe and chassidim, as well as for those who came to visit 770.
As such, he was invited by several Chabad shuls in Los Angeles to lead a farbrengen for the men and women in the community in honor of the 70th Yud Shvat.
Hours after he was at the Ohel, Rabbi Groner was on a flight to California leading the farbrengen with a full crowd at the Moshe Gans Hall on North La Brea. He was already back in Crown Heights the next night.
The farbrengen was organized in a collaboration between Congregation Levi Yitzchok, Ohel Menachem, Shaarei Tefillah, Chabad Sola, Beis Betzlel and the Chabad Israeli Center in Los Angeles.
Rabbi Groner shared from his immense knowledge in Torah and Chassidus and told stories from his many years working in close proximity to the Rebbe.
He told the community, “we have to connect with the Rebbe by doing what he wants from us. With emunah and hiskashrus we can overcome all difficulties and together bring Moshiach.”
