Rabbi Menachem Gerlitzky of Crown Heights visited Yeshiva Torah Ohr in North Miami on Thursday, and led a Siyum Harambam for the students.
The bochurim were excited that Rabbi Gerlitzky decided to return for the second year in a row and welcomed him with a sign and distributed flyers about the siyum throughout the neighborhood.
Throughout his visit at the Yeshiva, Rabbi Gerllitzky gave shiurim in chassidus, and was the guest gabbai and bal koreh for the Yeshiva’s minyan.
He stressed the importance of learning Rambam as it helps Yidden become fluent in the whole oral Torah, and related over how that after he initially began making siuyimim for each sefer, he was told once by Reb Yoel Kahan at the first shabbos farbregen after Pesach in 5749 that the Rebbe implied that there should be a siyum after the completion of each set of halachos. This was later confirmed when Rabbi Gerltizky spoke with Rabbi Groner who related that indeed the Rebbe was waiting a siyum to take place for that particular halacha.
A few weeks later at the Shavuos farbrengen, the Rebbe again said there should be an official siyum and farbrenegen for each halacha, and that the person (Rabbi Gerlitzky) who makes siyum for each sefer should from now on see to it that there is a siyum on each set of halchas.
Twenty-three years later and counting, until the coming of Moshiach, Rabbi Gerltizky still does everything he can to see that the Rebbe’s request is fulfilled in this matter.

suggestion:
I think R’ Cunin and Aguch should use Rabbi Gerlitzky to get the seforim back from the Russian government. With his dedication, he’ll find a way to get it done and bring Moshiach as the Rebbe said many times the the geula will come together with the the return of the seforim.
